Microneedling

Principle of Microneedling

Everyone has heard of the stratum corneum. At the very surface of soft skin, there is a thin layer called the stratum corneum (in some areas, it is even thinner than the diameter of a hair). The stratum corneum plays a very important role; it steadfastly protects the underlying skin and the delicate organs beneath it.

However, when it comes to issues such as formed skin pigmentation and moisture loss, the stratum corneum prevents us from addressing these problems effectively with medications or other nutritional elements, as they remain on the surface. How can we penetrate the stratum corneum to inject medications or nutrients directly into the dermis without damaging this thin layer, allowing it to continue protecting the skin? This is where the magical therapy of microneedling comes into play.

We can utilize nanometer-scale microneedles to create numerous tiny channels at different levels of the skin. This allows active cell growth factors and multiple nutrients to be delivered to skin cells at various depths, achieving an absorption rate of nearly 100%, which is 4000 times that of ordinary skincare treatments.

Microneedling can quickly activate cells, simultaneously promoting the proliferation of collagen and elastin fibroblasts. As a result, it helps smooth out depressed scars, lighten pigmentation, deeply hydrate the skin, and reduce wrinkles. This thoroughly improves skin texture, restores healthy skin, and achieves a flawless porcelain complexion.

How to Combine Different Agents for Targeted Treatments

Basic Microneedling:

Using gel serums with microneedles is the most basic microneedling agent.

Microneedling with PRP:

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is plasma enriched with platelets separated from the patient’s own blood. PRP contains autologous repair factors. Microneedling combined with PRP stimulates collagen regeneration, making it highly effective for anti-inflammatory and repair purposes. (PRP can also be used for scalp treatments to promote hair growth.)

Microneedling with ZO Serum:

Brightalive® Serum Accelerated utilizes ZO's intelligent color correction and skin tone evening technology. It is a concentrated enhancer designed to even out and brighten skin tone.

Microneedling with INNO:

INNO's small brown bottle is a brightening and hydrating product from Spain. Its main ingredients include Vitamin C, glutathione, alpha-lipoic acid, HA (hyaluronic acid), and SOD (superoxide dismutase). The product’s effects are whitening, brightening and evening skin tone, and providing antioxidant benefits.

Microneedling with Exosome:

Exosomes are small vesicles secreted by cells that contain various bioactive substances such as proteins, lipids, and RNA. In the field of aesthetics, exosomes are used to improve skin nutrition, promote collagen synthesis, reduce inflammation, and achieve anti-aging, whitening, and firming effects.

Advantages of Microneedling

  1. Unlike skin roller needles, microneedles penetrate the skin vertically, causing less trauma to the epidermis and reducing the burden on the skin.

  2. Various microneedling modes stimulate the skin.

  3. The automatic high-speed rotation allows for multiple punctures in a short time, ensuring uniform coverage over a large area.

  4. Fast drug penetration and high efficiency reduce treatment time.

  5. Vertical needle insertion into the skin lowers the pain associated with the treatment.

  6. Single-use lockable needle heads prevent cross-infection, ensuring safety and hygiene.

  7. Drugs are delivered to different depths of skin cells for maximum effectiveness.

  8. Extremely fine needle holes close within 2 to 3 hours, leaving no scars.

  9. The length of microneedles can be adjusted (0.25MM to 2.0MM) to target different treatment areas and address specific skin issues more effectively.

Precautions

  1. Avoid contact with untreated water for 12 hours. After 24 hours, you can wash your face with clean water. Do not pick at any scabs; allow them to fall off naturally.

  2. Avoid intense exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating, such as saunas, gym workouts, and hot baths, for 7 days.

  3. Do not wear makeup or use makeup removers for 3 days. Use hats, umbrellas, and sunglasses for physical sun protection. After 3 days, you can use isolation and sunscreen products.

  4. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, coffee, spicy foods, seafood, and beef or lamb for at least 7 days.

  5. Your skin may feel hot for 1-2 days after microneedling. You can use ice packs and masks to reduce the sensation. Typically, the heat will subside within 2-3 hours, and redness will diminish within 24 hours.

  6. Sun exposure can easily cause skin pigmentation after microneedling, so be particularly mindful of sun protection. If possible, stay indoors with curtains drawn. When going outside, wear a hat, sunglasses, a sun mask, and apply sunscreen.
