Dark circles are deposits of melanin around the eyes, usually caused by factors such as prolonged screen time, chronic sleep deprivation, poor blood circulation around the eyes, or genetic predisposition.

Tear troughs are formed due to the atrophy and sagging of soft tissues beneath the orbital septum, starting from the inner corner of the eye and extending along the lower eyelid towards the nose. In some individuals, tear troughs may even extend to the cheeks. Tear troughs are a type of wrinkle, and they are one of the three representative wrinkle patterns of aging. The presence of tear troughs can give the appearance of fatigue and aging.
